Ohio Revised Code: Update April 2025
Ohio Revised Code Section 4723.431, effective April 9, 2025, outlines standard care arrangements for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) like clinical nurse specialists (CNSs), certified nurse-midwives (CNMs), and certified nurse practitioners (CNPs), requiring them to practice under a written agreement with a collaborating physician or podiatrist. This arrangement must include specific elements such as referral criteria, a process for obtaining consultations, emergency coverage plans, and a method for resolving physician disagreements. A collaborating physician cannot have more than five APRNs in the prescribing aspect of their practice simultaneously.
